Barhes Budapest
The beginnings of Barhes Budapest were not without challenges, as the team set their dreams on a new foundation following a tragic event. After Bálna Terasz closed its doors in 2024, the team didn’t give up and soon after they created a new, Mediterranean-inspired brunch spot in the heart of the city.
Its namesake is none other than the famous Jewish braided bread, the bárhesz (also known as challah), which is not just a supporting character here, but the main character! The restaurant team created their own artisanal barhesz bread, which is paired with authentic flavors such as Jewish eggs cooked in duck fat, but modern brunch classics such as Eggs Benedict are also on the menu.
Each dish at Barhes Budapest tells a story, combining the richness of Mediterranean flavors with Hungarian and Jewish culinary traditions. Whether it’s sweet barhesz (traditional braided Jewish cake), a hearty main course, or a shared mezze experience, every bite invites a new taste experience, and every visit offers an unforgettable gastronomic adventure.
