A modern yet homely café now stands on the site of a former antique shop overlooking the traffic of Múzeum Boulevard – Budapest Baristas. It opened in 2015, at the dawn of the specialty wave, and has consistently delivered what an urban coffee enthusiast expects: coffees with character, from carefully selected roasters, in a friendly atmosphere. Brunch followed a year later – and it’s no coincidence: inspired by a trip to Dublin, breakfasts and mid-morning snacks were also added to the place’s menu, with attention to detail, taking into account various food intolerances.
Budapest Baristas doesn’t want too much, but what it does, it does well. An espresso, a matcha latte, or a slice of homemade cake – all of which convey the message that the ingredients, the environment, and the attention are what matter here. The menu isn’t flashy, but rather reliably good – whether it’s citrus cascara made from coffee fruit or yogurt served with fresh fruit.
